Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, was born on 28 August 1984 to the family of Daniel Johnson, who is a former Naval officer, and Elizabeth Johnson. According to the available information, she was the fourth child among seven.

Mercy started her primary education in Calabar, before she continued in Lagos at Nigerian Navy Primary School. She also attended Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Due to financial challenges, she dropped out and worked odd jobs before starting her career as an actress.
