He was born on 4 December 1996 in Porto, Portugal. He died in a car accident on 3 July 2025, together with his brother, André Silva, who is also a footballer.

According to the available information, Diogo Jota started his career as a youth player. He was developed in Gondomar’s system, before he proceeded to Paços de Ferreira (2013–14)  

Atlético & Porto loan 

In 2016, Diogo Jota was signed by Atlético Madrid, then loaned to Porto, where he tallied 9 goals and 7 assists in just 38 appearances.

Wolves (2017–2020)

Death 

Liverpool player Diogo Jota died on 3 July 2025, in a car accident near Zamora, Spain, aged 28, together with his 26-year-old brother André Silva. According to reports, a tyre blowout caused the vehicle to veer off and catch fire. 

He passed away just 11 days after his wedding. Tributes poured in across England, Spain, Portugal, and other countries of the world, including his club Liverpool and other football clubs. Likewise, the Premier League, Portugal national team, and even managers Klopp & Portugal’s PM among those mourning.
